What musical period did he compose for (romantic 1820-1900)

He was the son of an innkeeper and began playing the violin at school. Dvořák began an apprenticeship as a butcher before becoming an orchestral player, opera conductor and composer. In 1892 he moved to New York before returning to Prague where he lived for the rest of his life.

Dvorak actually attended the village school where he was encouraged in his singing and was taught the violin by the local schoolteacher, Josef Spitz
