The antagonist

Rasputin

Rasputin is the evil sorcerer whom has done nothing but cause trouble for both Anastasia and Dimitri. He is the one who caused the sudden revolution at the beginning of the duchesses childhood, the one who almost killed them by sabotaging their train ride. He has been trapped in limbo for he past ten years, and his curse has finally come back into play once his minion finds Anastasia meeting Dimitri at the old palace.

Foils

A good contrasting pair in the story would be Anastasia and Dimirti. While Anastasia is a hard-headed, independent feminist, Dimitri is a cunning little thief whom prefers it if Anastasia stays out of his way. His main goal in the story is to simply dress her up like a princess and claim the reward, which she discovers only after the entire group finds out that heeeeyy she really is the princess.
