This disease is somewhat rare as it occurs in 1 out of every 3,500 males.

-DMD affects boys in most cases, as their is a slight chance that a female could get it.
-This disease is very common to see in the UK.

- The life expectancy of someone with DMD is only 25 years.

Treatment

- Steroids - to help slow the loss of muscle strength
- Albuteral, which is a drug for people with asthma
- Vitamin E
