"If I Were a Boy "

The most obvious stereotype in the song, Beyoncé says she wants to be a boy so she can do whatever she wants (drink, wear whatever, be a cop, etc...). In the beginning she is a police officer and her husband is a secretary but the. We figure out that she is dreaming and the roles are reversed. This scene promotes the stereotypes that men take the violent and hard jobs and women take the desk jobs like secretaries. The beginning of the video suggests that the video is breaking down the underlying stereotype, yet we them figure out she is dreaming and the video is in fact promoting the stereotype.
