What is a developmental delay?

The condition of a child being less developed mentally or physically than is normal for its age.

The delay might be in one or more areas: Gross and fine motor skills, communication and language skills, cognitive thinking and social skills

Minor, temporary delays are usually no cause for alarm. An ongoing delay or multiple delays in reaching milestones is called developmental delay
