Hyphens and Dashes

What do they do?

Hyphens connect words and numbers together. (-)An example is if a women went to put her name on a certificate then she would have to put her maiden name and a hyphen then her marriage name. Dashes is the interruption of the sentence and usually an expression or feeling. (--) Let's say that your teacher was writing a letter to a the principal about a student then they would have to put the students name with a dash in front of it at the end.
