Asian Golden Cats
Asian Golden cats are found in Southeastern Asia and are found in elevations of 1,100 to 3,738 meters. They prefer to live in forest habitats that has rocky areas or tropical rainforests. The only predator the Asian Golden Cat has, is us, humans! People local to the areas where these wild cats live hunt them for their meat, fur, and their bones. Their meat is considered a delicacy in some parts of Asia. The bones are used for drugs and medicine. Some of their hair or fur is used to "ward" off tigers. There are many different sightings of different colored Asian Golden Cats including gold brown, brown, black, fox red, and gray. This also includes white legs, arms, and underbelly. They also have long legs for tree climbing. These wildcats were once thought to be nocturnal but other studies have proved that they are diurnal and crepuscular (meaning they are active during dawn, dusk, and day). Asian Golden Cats are expected to live at least 20 years in captivity and 18 to 23 years on their own. They eat small animals like bunnies, buffalo calves, sheep, and many more. This makes them Tertiary consumers. The African Golden Cat is commonly mistaken to be as the same animal but they actually have no relation at all! The Asian Golden Cat is also known as the Asiatic Golden Cat and the Temminck's cat.
