1. Monsoon season was so important to the farmers of India because after long seasons of drought, rain would pour from the skies for elongated periods of time, thus making the land fertile. 

2. The irrigation system worked for many centuries; there was a large tank built at Mohenjo-daro, which was used for the artificial application of water. The additions of wells and other canals began later, but the irrigation system remained the same for many years.
