[More Hitler]
In 1914, Hitler was rejected by the Austro-Hungarian Army for being: "unfit for combatant and auxiliary duty - too weak. Unable to bear arms."
However, the outbreak of World War I gave him a chance for a fresh start. Hitler volunteered for the German Army. They accepted him because they needed people.
Hitler liked the excitement of fighting in a war. His fellow soldiers thought he was "strange" and "odd."
