Answer: {Gupta Empire} You should make your trade routes safer and more comfortable. If they're more comfortable, more likely more people would like to trade, getting your empire more goods.

You should make the trade routes nicer, by making rest houses. In the Gupta empire, they had rest houses for overnight stays or just warming up. {page 80}

You could also improve your trade routes by making ditches or canals. Then, during the wet monsoon season the water on the roads would fall into the ditches to prevent flooding
