Electric telegraph came from the understanding of electromagnetism. In 1837, William Cooke and Charles Wheatstone developed the first telegraph to be out in commercial service. The telegraph system spread all over the railroad network in order to control signaling and transmit messages.
By 1830s steamships were operated throughout the Imperial and trade routes, and three major shipping lines were founded, the British and American Steam Navigation Company, the Great Western Steamship Company and the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company. In 1839 Isambard Burnel built a 3270 ton iron steamship that was the most revolutionary steamship during the Victorian era.
