I know that this will work because Ashoka felt terrible after conquering Kalinga, and when he saw the wreck after the war was over, he tried to get everybody to forgive him. He had stone pillars created which had edicts promoting goals and actions and his beliefs in nonviolence, laws and declarations carved onto them, so everybody would see that he is a good leader. Since he felt terrible about what he had done, it would make Ashoka feel really happy with himself and in a good mood if someone complimented him on his struggles. I know that this will work because Ashoka truly believes in the three moral laws, and he would like someone who agreed with him. For ahimsa, he gave up hunting and banned any cruel treatment to animals. For tolerance, he respected Jainism and Hindusim, and other religions even though he believed in Buddhism. For well-being, Ashoka made his empire a much better place to live by being careful about ruling his people well. Maurya Empire Packet, Page 239
The Indian Empire that has similar characteristics to the kingdom in the scenario is The Maurya Empire, during the time where the emperor was Ashoka. I would advise to Raja Eisert two suggestions. One, Raja Eisert should congratulate and compliment Ashoka on what a wonderful job he has done trying to fix up himself and his land and people, after the Conquest of Kalinga. Secondly, Raja Eisert should talk about following Buddhist values and traditions, like dharma, and Ashoka's three moral laws, ahimsa, tolerance, and a persons well-being.
