What is an exponential function?
How do you graph an exponential function?
Graphing Exponential Functions
An exponential function is a function where the variable is located in the exponent. The base of the function is a positive real number and is not equal to 1
Sierpinski's Triangle
[f(x)=3^x]
It is easiest to graph exponential functions by using graphing technology such as Geogebra
As an example, to graph the exponential function used in sierpinskis triangle, you would type
F(x)=3^x
into the input field
Tip: When graphing, if the exponent has more than one variable, put it in a set of parentheses
Ex: f(x)=3^(x-1)
Domain- all real numbers
Range- y>0
Asymptote- y=0
