Genetic influences on body weight

biological influence on bodyweight is the inheritance of a certain body type from a person’s genes. The inherited body type can have an impact on bodyweight. Body type relates to a combination of body shape and size. A person’s body type will be affected by their sex. For example, males tend to have a higher muscle mass due to the inheritance of genes that cause testosterone to be released in large amounts. On the other hand, females tend to have wider hips and a rounder shape due to the hormone oestrogen which causes the body to deposit fat in this area. There are three general body types: ectomorph (thin and tall shape), endomorph (round shape) and mesomorph (muscular shape).
