The second Great Awakening was the revivals of the broad religious movement that swept the United States after 1790. The view of getting to heaven and hell was changed from a predetermined fait to individual responsibility of seeking salvation. Churches split over the ideas of individualism and responsibility. There were gatherings to preach these messages, some preachers could draw 20,000 or more.
