Figurative Phtotography

- Figurative art existed before figurative photography.
- Egyptians had abstract and stylized ways of figurative art.
- Figurative photography started with Greeks who made ideas idealistic and geometric.
- Figurative art objects were carved into mammoth bone some 30,000 years ago.
- Figurative photography does not have to include humans, it is common to include humans and animals.
- da Vinci used skill and perspective to create this art.
- Figurative photography first came with the first complete photo in the 1820's.
- 1st camera that had a patent in the USA was made by Alexander Wolcott in 1840
- Some other cameras did exist, but had some minor faults.
- In 1843 in Philadelphia, the first advertisement with a picture was seen.
- The opposite photography is abstract. This is art that you cannot depict one specific item.
- Today, figurative photography is very popular.
