The south had the upper hand on strong military leadership.

Military leaders:
Robert E. Lee- commanded the Northern Virginian army

J.E.B. Stuart- Calvary commander

Braxton Bragg- led armies of Mississippi and Tenessee

There were about 400 Confederate military leaders.
