How was the new theory different from the previous model?

The new theory is different from the previous model because, the model had problems with trying to make the atom neutral and continued to struggle with trying to account the mass of the atom when the electron was 1/1000 the mass of the hydrogen atom. But with this new theory it proves that the atom is neutral between the negative particles. And the mass to ratio of the cathode rays turned out to be much smaller.
