Founded by Laozi, Daoism is the second great philosophy of Ancient China. It was based on the ancient Chinese idea of Dao, or "the Way". Dao was the name given to the force that set order to the natural universe. Daoism believed that, by living in harmony and agreement with the ways of nature, people gained happiness and peace. This philosophy taught that, by having simple life's of quiet meditation, you could live by the ways of nature. People should avoid self-important or striving possessions or honors and should accept whatever comes.

Daoism believed that harmony came from balancing the two opposites, Yin and Yang. It also shows how there is no good without bad or bad without good.
Laozi, or Lao-tzu, was the founder of Daoism. He is said to be the author of the Dao the Jing, possibly translated to "The Classic of the Way and It's Power".
