Primary Succession
Primary succession: Primary succession is when there was no previous life in a place where plants begin to grow. Bare rock getting slowly rotted to soil by lichens, then pioneer species such as grass and moss begins to grow. More soil is added as these plants grow breaking rock with their roots. Shrubs begin to grow then fast growing trees and finally mature trees grow. Often eventually creating a forest.
