The Tucks cannot change anything about their destiny. For them nothing changes, they are frozen in time. When they come back to Treegap on a horse and buggy they stick out in the new, modern world.

For Urashima the time stands still while he is in the underwater palace. When he comes back to his village he feels lost and cannot recognize anyone.
