Alternative means to managing Elephantiasis and Lymphatic Filariasis are pressure bandages to wrap the swollen limb or use of elastic stockings to help reduce the swelling and pressure. Exercising and elevating a bandaged limb can also help reduce the size.
Surgery can be performed to reduce Elephantiasis by removing excess fatty and fibrous tissue draining the swelled area.
Surgery can also assist by removing
the dead worms.
With the DEC treatment the progress
Is good for easy and mild cases of
Lymphatic Filariasis. The progress
Is poor however for heavy
Parasite infestation.
