Life
In Texas
During 1846 - 1860, nearly all Texans lived on farms or ranches. Most of the farmer grew crops. Corn crops were the largest food crop in Texas, though cotton was the primary 'cash crop'. It was quite easy to grow, and it could be shipped to all over US. The importance of ranching grew in the 1850s.
