Native American religion

- native people worked hard to keep Christianity away
-although spanish authorities supported Roman Catholicism, the native people continued practicing their own religion
-they continued to practice by finding hidden areas where they could honor idols and they even continued to sacrifice human victims to their gods
-Christianity became popular when the native people thought that they had made their gods angry because they were suffering from disease and conquest
- then they blended their culture and traditions with Christianity (like the Africans did with Christianity)
