Louis Pasteur and the Silk Industry
In 1865, the silk industry of France asked for Louis' aid. The silk worms in the factories were not spinning silk efficently.
Louis found that the silkworms and their food was infected with a microbe. He recommended that all the worms and their food be destroyed to prevent further infection of the workers in the factories. They did so, and the factories were back to normal.
