These cells created the polio vaccine, this vaccine saved so many lives in the 1950's as well as so many people today. It is a highly used vaccine today. These immortal cells have also helped in many scientific discoveries like gene mapping, IVF, and a big accomplishment of these cells was the role they played in chemotherapy. Which today many use to fight cancer and many live longer than without chemo.
