Emissions Produced

Coal produces many emissions, such as carbon dioxide, sulfur, dioxide, nitrogen oxides, methane, and mercury compounds. Some of these are greenhouse gases, which contribute to global warming. All of them are harmful to humans.
Nuclear reactions produce alpha, beta, and gamma radiation, but no gases. Alpha and beta particles are less harmful than gamma rays, all of which are radioactive and cause damage to living matter.
