In this book Allegiant,it opens with Tris is in prison for for going against the laws of the city and revealing information that has changed the city forever. Her main goal is to bust out of prison and get out of the city. Through some tricky court situations she manages to lie herself right out of prison. But along the way she meets this group called Allegiant. Their main goal was to bust out of the city as well so she just fit right in. They get out of the city an they meet a dude named David who explains everything. He explains that Chicago (which by the way they had no clue that, that was the name of their city) was a social experiment, and that the government genetically altered people. They did this because they thought that ridding all of these unwanted characteristics, like violence, greed, dishonesty and etc. would make everything so perfect. So Divergents were people who healed from this and actually had a piece of mind. While this was happening, the Bureau (The bad people form the second book) made plans to erase eveybodys memories with a memory serum. Tris finds out about this and what's to go and erase the memories of the Bureau so that they can explain to everybody what happened. It turns out that that David doesn't like this and ends up shooting tris as she unleashed the memory serum. So the evil is defeated but tris is dead. Sad ending.
