One of the major issues in this region is the lack of water. Because this region is full of deserts and not a lot of rivers, managing the water is very critical to life in the SWANA countries. Water is key to life in a region, and since this area is so important to the world, it is important to satisfy the peoples basic needs. people have responded to this issue by modifying drainage systems and water flow for thousands of years. The irian qanat system is one example of dealing with this issue. It taps into groundwater through a series of gently sloping tunnels on the arabian penniusla. The have also created the Aswan High dam, and it has increased storage capacity in the upstream reservoir making more land and water availabe for agriculture. Overall, a lot of effort is being put in to deal with this major issue in the middle east and north africa.

Another major issue in the SWANA region is the tension between the Palestines and the Jews. There is a lot of cultural diversity in this area, and because of all the tension, it leads to some problems that not only affected this region but also the whole world world. Conflict started when the Jews kept coming into the Palestine land, and this made the Palestines angry because all they wanted was a place to call their own. The Palestine finally started attacking the Jews, and finally created the "apartheid wall." The wall solved some problems with the Jews, but also created tension with Israel! Till this day conflict between these two groups have not been solved but efforts are being made to make peace.
