Virgin Island Puerto Rican friendship day


-Puerto Ricans have been a part of the V.I. community for a long time
-Their influence was recognized in 1964 by the local legislature
-They made a historical change, by making Columbus Day V.I./Puerto Rico Friendship Day
-It was first celebrated on the Christiansted waterfront
It takes place on October 10th


-V.I. Puerto Rico friendship day expanded from a day to month
-The first festival was dedicated to the deceased president of the VI/PR committee, Miguel Duschesne


There is a parade that happens every year
It also celebrated with dances, games, and foods from both countries
Their are also poster making contests and plays

Fellow GHCDS students won best poster for VIPR Friendship Day in 2014.
