-The Declaration of Independence, signed in 1776, was meant to justify a revolt against the British, with a list of charges against the British king.

Celebrated by fun parades, fireworks, backyard barbecues across the country, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches and ceremonies.

Three U.S. Presidents, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, died on July 4th; Adams and Jefferson died within hours of each other in 1826 while Monroe died in 1831
Americans consume about 155 million hot dogs on Independence Day alone; it is the biggest hot dog holiday of the year.
