July 14, 1789 and the patience of the French people has finally snapped. Wave after wave of rioters surge forward in a haze of blood-letting. A violent sight indeed, and they do not reveal any signs of slowing down. Pounding against the Bastille gates, it appears they want to let the prisoners free. Not only do they free the inmates, but any guard who stands in their way faces a most brutal death. This storm will last a while so batten down the hatches and stay inside.

Let There Be Blood

Charles Darnay, nephew of the late Monsieur the Marquis, emigrated to Paris from London to aid in the release of his friend Gabelle. Regretfully, the citizens imprisoned him at La Force. At his trial, Dr. Manette testified for Mr. Darnay. The former Bastille prisoner gained the approval of the crowd, resulting in Darnay's immediate acquittal. Later that evening, however, prison guards came to arrest Darnay on account of Defarge, Madame Defarge and one mysterious other.
