Human Population

Population growth
= (number of births+number of immigrants) - (number of deaths+number of emigrants)
Immigration and emigration can influence local population sizes but not the total human population.
To compare different populations, the percentage growth rate is often considered.
Growth rate= change un population size/size of population X100

Factors affecting human birth:
- birth control measures
- standard of medical care during pregnancy and labour
- standard of health
- economic conditions
- political pressures
- social pressures
- religious cultural pressures

Factors affecting human death rate:
- food supply
- water supply and sanitation
- medical provision
- age profile
- war
- natural disasters
