The plot of this fantastic play is that Annie Sullivan comes to the Keller house to help with Helen's disability. Trying to help, Annie is challenged with many problems concerning the way why Helen is like this.
Trying to teach Helen some manners, she takes her to a little cottage on the edge of the property and continues to teach. After a successful time, Annie is able to teach Helen to communicate with the help of sign language. It doesn't fully get to her however, but soon after a day by the water pump, Helen understands and is able to say "water".
