10.2 Key Question/ What events occur during each phase of mitosis?

Prophase- First step, DNA becomes chromatid, identical parts and a copied chromosome. They then join together to form centromere, the are where the chromatids are attached. The nuclear sac breaks down, spindle fibers form.

Metaphase- Second phase, chromosomes line up in the center, spindle fibers attach to the centromere.

Anaphase- Third phase, the centromeres and sister chromatids separate.

Telophase- Fourth phase, chromosomes spread out. A nuclear sac forms around each chromosome, spindle fibers break apart.

Interphase- Final phase, the cell copies it's DNA again and grows.
