Diagnosis

To be diagnosed an X-Ray is taken and it is able to show:
* low bone density
* bone fractures
* collapse vertebrae

However conventional X-rays may not be able to detect osteoporosis until significant bone mass has already been loss. Newer methods such
*dual energy X-Ray absorptiometry (DXA)
* dual photon absorptiometry (DPA)
* quantitative computed tomography (CAT SCANS)

These methods allow for earlier and more accurate diagnosis of low bone mass
