The epicardium is the outermost layer of the hearts walls. It is made of connective tissue and also referred to as the visceral pericardium. It serves to protect the heart.

The myocardium the middle layer of the hear, made of spontaneous cardiac fibers that allow the heart to contract. It serves to ump blood so the ria can receive it.

The endocardium is the inner layer of the heart that is composed of epithelial and connective tissue. It lines the heart cavities and protects important valves of the heart.
