EKG stands for electrocardiogram. This is a painless test that records heart's electrical pulses. Each heart beat sends an electrical signal from the top to the bottom of the heart, causing it to contract and pump blood. EKGs show how fast your heart is beating, the rhythm; regular or irregular, and strength and to timing of electrical signals throughout the heart.
