▪️Ancient Athens, Greece functioned using a form of democracy called Direct Democracy where all the men gathered to discuss and vote on government topics
▪️Ancient Rome functioned using a republic where citizens voted on representatives who would govern them
▪️Both of these systems gave the citizens representation, helping to keep them from being controlled
▪️These ideas were adopted into Article 2, Section 1, Clauses 2 and 3
Clause 2 says each state shall appoint Electors and that the state should have as many electors as they do Congressmen. This is partially by population, with each state having at least 3 electors.
Clause 3 says the vote for president shall be taken by the states.
