What did Peter Lalor do as a result of what was happening in the colony
Peter Lalor planned a rebellion and had meetings with all the diggers and they had a plan to build a Eureka Stockade to keep the military and the police out. On the 30th of November 1854 the police checked the diggers license and 6 people got arrested. In the afternoon another meeting was held and that's when Peter Lalor was chosen to be leader of the diggers. Lots of diggers and miners came to the Eureka Stockade to help from all places. The diggers sweared an oath to defend their rights and liberties under the flag of the Southern Cross. The diggers lost the battle but claimed their freedom.
