Golgi Apparatus

Large call outs are Helvectica Neue and set at 20pt in a shade of jade

Golgi Apparatus appears as a stack of closely apposed membranes, or vesicles.

Small body copy is Arial MT at 12pt

structure

function

Golgi apparatus modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and other materials from the ER for storage in the cell or secretion outside of it. Vesicles (small membrane surrounded bags) carry materials from the rough ER to the Golgi apparatus. Vesicles move between the stacks while the proteins are "processed." Vesicles then carry newly formed membrane and secreted proteins to their final destinations including secretion or membrane localization.
