Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts have an inner membrane called the thylakoid membrane. Within it, there are thylakoids, or thickened regions, and stroma which is the liquid surrounding the thylakoids.

Photosynthesis mostly occurs in the palisade layer. Gas exchange usually takes place in stomata.
