It was released on March 4, 2000, in Japan and then North America and Europe in the same year. The PS2 has become the most sold console of all time with over 155 million units sold. For these units over 3,800 game titles have been sold. The console was the top seller of the 2 consoles. It lasted from 2000 to 2013 when it was discontinued on January 4th.

Xbox
The brand was first introduced on November 15, 2001 in the United States, with the launch of the original Xbox console.
That original device was the first video game console offered by an American company after the Atari Jaguar stopped sales in 1996.
It reached over 24 million units sold in May 10, 2006.

Other 6th Generation Consoles
Nintendo GameCube-It was released on September 14,2001. It was owned by Nintendo and sold for 21.74 million units. Popular games included Luigi's Mansion, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, and Crazy Taxi.
Sega Dreamcaster- It was the earliest of the other consoles as it sold November 1998. It was released by Sega and famous titles included Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Soul Calibur, and Sonic Adventure 2
