Where is it mined?

Rock salt deposits have been found on every continent except Antarctica. Large North American deposits are in Texas, Louisiana, New York, Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Kansas, New Mexico, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan. Other large deposits are in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Romania and Pakistan. In Iran, salt glaciers break out of mountains at high altitudes and flow downhill.
