Food toys obstruct baby's airway & prevent breathing
A distinction is made between a partial and complete obstruction
- partial obstruction: baby can still breath, cough, cry or speak
Spontaneous coughing is probably more effective and safer than any action undertaken by the first aider.
Don't attempt to remove foreign objects as there is the risk that you'll only push them further into the throat.
* put the baby into position where they feel comfortable and can breath
* reassure them and encourage them to cough
Monitor them continuously
If the baby continues to breath but With difficulty call the emergency service
- complete obstruction:
If the baby is conscious but unable to cough or can only cough with difficulty you must immediately attempt to make the cough through blows to the back
If the baby is unconscious so you must put him on his back on a flat surface open his month & try to pull the object by two fingers and do the artificial breathing & the cardio pushes 30:2
And wait for the emergency services to arrive
