RICE: rest, immobilize, cold, elevate
1- Rest: don't move or straighten the injured area
2- Immobilize: stabilize the injured area in the position it was found
3- Cold: apply an ice pack on the injured area for maximum 20 min it will reduce the swelling and pain ( apply a bandage not tightly wrapped around the injury than check periodical & don't use ice directly on the skin)
4- Elevate: elevate the injured part only if it doesn't cause more pain
Strain & sprain must respond to rest and cooling
- if you suspect that the bone is broken
- if it's unable to walk
- if the limb is angled
- If the pain is server
You should call an ambulance to the injure
