Where is it currently being used on a large scale?

as you can see in the pictures above wind energy is currently being used in the right picture a part of Oregon ,Main ,and Vermont have state wide programs. Several other states have local and regional programs. The map on the on the left shows over half of the United States participates of some type of wind energy.
