Buddhism Main Teachings

4 Noble Truths:
1: All life is full of suffering, pain, and sorrow
2: The cause of suffering is nonvirtue, or negative deeds and mind sets such as hatred & desire
3: The only cure for suffering is to overcome nonvirtue
4: The way to overcome nonvirtue, is to follow the Eightfold Path

Ultimate Goal: to reach Nirvana, accomplished through reincarnation Dharma and Karma determine how you return in your next life

Symbols:
• Wheel: represents teachings of the Buddha
• Eight spokes of the wheel symbolize the Noble Eightfold Path set out by Buddha in his teachings & endless cycle of birth

Rituals & Practices:
• Believe in meditation (their way to enlightenment)
• Reject the idea of priests, formal rituals, or the existence of gods
• Set up convents and monasteries
