Concept 10: Volume
filling up to the top
Volume is the measure of the amount of space inside of a solid figure, like a cube, ball, cylinder or pyramid. It's units are always "cubic", that is, the number of little element cubes that fit inside the figure.
What is volume?
Sammy is filling up a brownie pan that is cubed. To find the volume of this pan, he must do length times width times height. The length is 12 inches, the width is 7 inches and the height is 4 inches. The volume of this pan would be 336, so Sammy would need 2 cake pans.
