During The Great War, many countries used propaganda in order to vilify the enemies and restrict civil liberties. They did this by showing the enemies as barbarian and evil in order to show the citizens what they are fighting against and why they are doing so. They also used propaganda to show new laws that had been set such as the law against espionage and laws that restricted the right to free speech.
